Why I Became an Organic Gardener

I love working outside every chance I get & since I live in AZ. I can have a garden year round. fresh veggies & fruit are so expensive in the stores so I decided to grow my own, they taste so much better. I make my own spray for my garden to get rid of the bugs if I have any, usually I don't I have about 10 fruit trees in my own yard. I make my own compost piles all winter to put in my garden in spring, or just spread some of the good dark dirt along all my rows. my compost piles are all my leftovers that I blend up in my blender & mix with my garden dirt. I also pour a beer over the piles or a coke every 2 weeks.

Advice for Those Interested in Trying Organic Gardening

If any of you have any extra time on your hands I suggest you try having your own garden, it is so very well worth it in the end & tastes so much better & cheaper too. I also save my seeds from my veggies each year & don't have to buy them every time I start my garden. Sometimes I will start my garden inside in January, like my tomato plants & by the time the weather is nice enough to put them out they already have a great start.

What I'd Do Differently

  • The only thing I would do different would be to have a bigger garden & do some canning so I could give my products to friends & friends for gifts at Christmas. It is so much fun making your own good food to eat from your own garden.

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences -- making compost and saving seeds are both great, rewarding activities for gardeners!
