Hybrid

By Colleen Vanderlinden, About.com

Definition: A hybrid, or hybridized plant, is a plant that is the offspring of two unrelated parent plants. Hybrid plants are generally considered to be less fussy and more bountiful. However, saving seeds from hybrids is pretty much pointless, as hybrids don't come true from seed, but will revert to the characteristics of one parent or the other.
Also Known As: hybridized plant
Examples: 'Better Boy' is an example of a hybrid tomato.
