Poll: What Do You Want to Learn?

Thursday November 12, 2009
I want to thank everyone who participated in my earlier poll about which vegetables you'd like to learn to grow. That was immensely helpful in my planning for the next few months of writing articles at About Organic Gardening. In the same vein, I'd like to ask you one more question: What do you want to learn more about? Please take the poll, and if there's an option you want to learn about that wasn't included in the poll, please tell me about it in the comments. Thanks so much for your feedback!

I am new to growing apple trees as well as a new lasagna garden. Would be very interesting in comments about pruning and preventing problems.

I would also like to learn about edible landscaping, replacing watered lawns & droght tolerant organic gardening

(3) Mike Varady says:

I’m trying to learn which unusual flower plants are edible. I know that dahlia tubers are (although their flavors vary widely), as are the petals of the flowers. What about the leaves, and the seeds? Suffering from celiac disease, I want to know which seeds I can incorporate into my breadmaking without endangering myself.

I’ve learned that celosia has edible leaves, flowers, and seeds (are they free of gluten?), and amaranth is gluten-free. What other unusual plants are there for me to grow? I want a wide variety so that I won’t be found wanting in emergencies.

Thanks — Mike
