About Herb Gardens guide Amy Jeanroy has a wonderful set of instructions for bringing in and potting up your perennial herbs. I especially like her advice about potting similar herbs together--I tend to keep all of mine in separate pots, and watering can become a bit of a pain.
There's always one herb that gives me trouble, and from what I've heard, it gives other indoor gardeners fits as well: rosemary. I just can't seem to keep it alive. Luckily, my friend, garden writer Kathy Purdy, has a fantastic article on her website about keeping rosemary alive indoors. I will be following her advice to the letter this winter!
It looks like I brought my herbs inside just in time. We're supposed to get a frost, and possibly snow(!) early next week. Happily, I'll have my basil, parsley, and rosemary (if I can keep it alive...) to add fresh flavor to my cooking and beauty to my kitchen all winter long.
